I am going to ramble about so much garbage.

Some of it will be mechanical, some of it electronic, some of it will be software, and most of it will be of little interest to anyone; but here it is all the same.

thinking more about that one job i had about four years ago for like, a month, before i quit/was fired (i'm still not sure which), it was for a surveillance equipment wholesaler, mostly doing website management - setting up and verifying product pages, adding spec sheets, and keeping them up to date, though i also did some work in the warehouse installing hard drives into the recorders and preparing them for shipping

anyway this job fucking sucked, the pay was alright but it was a sausage party, i got poked at a lot for being ace, and they kept joking about how i'd have to cut my hair short and do karaoke for the 'initiation'. i got reprimanded a lot for looking out of the window "a lot" when in reality i was just resting my eyes for a few seconds and spacing out because of the sheer tedium of what i was doing, and i got absolutely fucking chewed out for turning on the heater next to me when it was clear i was unwell after i'd just spent the previous month living in a damp, cold house

the actual boss was fine, it was everyone between him and myself who were the problem - he wasn't there most of the time, mostly going out to trade shows and the like, so he wasn't able to reign anyone in. the guy immediately below him was so fucking petty that i had to stay behind after hours to make up the 15 minutes i was late because the person i was expecting to pick me up was unexpectedly off that day and forgot to tell me

the fact that we were working with a tech giant with a questionable human rights record was just the cherry on top, and honestly this experience has made me never want to work again. i've still looked for a new job prior to starting my comp sci course, so my not getting one wasn't for a lack of trying

employers aren't "starving for workers", they're just choosing beggars who abuse whomever is "lucky" to be picked by them, both financially and mentally, until they're no longer useful or they leave
