As old as the Web.

I am going to ramble about so much garbage.

Some of it will be mechanical, some of it electronic, some of it will be software, and most of it will be of little interest to anyone; but here it is all the same.

I just stumbled my way into the depths of the transmission/pto/winch specs in my truck's workshop manual, and currently 'avin a giggle at the winch rating.

So, like... to put this in context, this is a massive heavy PTO-driven winch built into the chassis of the truck; just having it fitted adds 635kg to the weight of the bare chassis, when it's spooled with its 260 feet of steel wire rope.

It has a line pull rating of 11,200lbs. (5080kg)

Half the off-roading youtubers I watch (on the youtubes!) use 12,000lb (5443kg) rated Harbor Freight winches with a shipping weight of 36kg.

Now, I get there's going to be a certain quality difference, and they've got synthetic line on there, and only 80 feet of it, and their little elctric winch only has a rated 5% duty cycle (45 seconds at full pull, then 14 minutes 15 seconds to cool down), but: holy crap.
