Im not familiar with Souls games but is everything supposed to feel so sluggish? I press a button and the action comes out way later... am I FGC poisoned? is this lag between button press and attack/dodge roll intentional?

i've never played elden ring, but yeah the other souls games are like this. the lag takes some getting used to. i kinda feel like you're piloting a meat gundam lol. i grew to love it because it's a slow pacing and a commitment to movement that's rarely taken any more (animation cancels are cool as heck, after all).
i can't speak to their intentions, but for me it feels like it emphasizes that these games are not about reaction speed as much as they are about memorization and staying calm and collected.
that being said, sekiro is a lot faster, and is a bit of an outlier from them. the parry system is quite fast paced and a bit more FGC-brained. i personally found that game a lot more frustrating and gave up on the final boss.
I see... This is very much not what I was expecting, so I was wondering if perhaps it was a bug/malfunction. I'm glad it's not. Thanks for the perspective! I will put Sekiro on my list, I like the aesthetic of that game as well.
yeah, there is a huge amount of commit to most actions. sekiro was mentioned but also bloodborne is much faster than all the others, if thats something youre interested in
yeah I really enjoyed Bloodborne and thought it was a good middle ground! I found it visually hard to parse especially locked at 30fps with the low contrast dark aesthetic, but it has my favorite vibes for sure.
yep. i tried dark souls 3 a couple years ago and bounced hard cos of it. but elden rings i managed to get into thanks to picking some of the quicker weapons (i.e dagger, rapier).
