because a few editorials dress up content cranked out for fan consumption as serious criticism and just kinda jam pack books full of middle-school level "essays" that don't aspire to do anything but Describe The Thing You Watched. i can go to AVClub for free you fuckers!!
it's extra annoying because i don't have institutional access to journals anymore so i kinda have to hope that the books i can find are Real and not Fake. it's like when you click on a website thinking it's gonna have the answer to your question but woops! it's SEO spam again!!
