We’re interrupting our IFTV posting with some Utenaposting but we’ll be back tomorrow with some panels.
One quality I appreciate is when a work allows itself to be enigmatic, opaque, inconsistent, even incomprehensible. Most of the world is ineffable and mysterious. When a piece of media makes too much sense it feels insincere, sometimes patronizing.
For the “world-sense” to be satisfied, it demands unanswerable questions. Not only unanswered but unanswerable. When these are present, brains chew on them in the background. These questions are hooks for your brain to hang on to. When they are not, a sense of artifice takes its place.
If you investigate too deeply you see the seams of the world, and are all the worse for it.
In other news, I’m building a new pc and I’m really jazzed about it even though I have to spend 1/5th more than I should because of “the law” or whatever. In other other news, I’ve been doing watercolors. I think august will be watercolor month. Happy sunday to sluts!
