We missed another day but I had a big day yesterday! I am on a new dose of my meds so I’m feeling a little weird. Last night I got to plat on SF6 and that’s the highest rank I’ve ever had on a fighting game so I’m fucking over the moon tbh. Practice paying off is such a rush. Part of why I managed to rank up yesterday is that I discovered joytokey was adding a relatively large amount of latency to my inputs. This was solved by switching to antimicro and setting the polling rate to 1ms, which immediately improved my experience by a lot. Because of all the time I spent in Smash when a game feels “underwater”1 it feels normal to me. However, now that I fixed that it’s like I’m playing in permanent fast forward. I managed to beat combo trials I had never done before and I was reacting to jumps and DI on time… At one point I was in a 10-win streak… it was very anime. Another factor that helped was swapping the keycaps on my stick for ones that were firmer and faster to press. The texture change from smooth and glossy to gritty also helped. Who knows? Maybe one day I could get diamond.

In other news… it’s the start of August and this means I have three concurrent projects going. It might go wrong! But it could also go very right. I’m hype for the month, my projects, EVO, and SF6, but also a little sad because my partner has to go away for some time… anyway… keep it up guys, y’all are killing it.
