I slept pretty well all things considered! This morning I finished the pirate ghost ship arc of IFTV and I like that the world has changed in such a way that Rei no longer knows 100% what’s going on. No screencap because it was an action chapter so there wasn’t really anything I wanted to scrapbook from it (incidentally, collecting screencaps and reaction images is a form of scrapbooking, isn’t it?). The weather is cloudy and perfect for being seepy! Very grateful to $weather_deity for this. Despite their reputation, I am a big fan of long winters. (Winter for me means under 20c)

Yesterday, while playing SF6, I ran into a “friend” in Casuals… they play the most annoying Kimberly possible. It’s not even normal Kimberly shenanigans, it’s way beyond that. By game 7 my frustration built up so much that it sublimated into a calm rage and it helped me focus all my energy into beating them… it was very anime!! That would have been the point where Yami Tati took over. It was a good ending for the day because I didn’t sleep great yesterday so I wasn’t playing my best. However, intentionally practicing my autopilot has helped me not crumble immediately when I’m tired.

Now that I think about it, it probably wasn’t even the Kimberly that frustrated me but an earlier call I had with my mother. It kinda threw my whole day out of balance. Sorry Pejegato!!

Besides SF6 I’ve also been playing this brazilian fighting game called Pocket Bravery and it’s very fun. You can tell the devs are real fighting game sickos, like SNK/King of Fighters motherfuckers. King of Fighters is huge in South America… and the influence is very noticeable in the game design. It has variable jump arcs, attacks that change on proximity, knockdown teching (I know about it by way of Smash but I know it’s like a KOF thing?), you can chain specials into EX moves and the way the ex bar and the super bar interact is really interesting. It also has burst! It’s pretty complete as far a packages go… I love the pixel art backgrounds but the character design is extremely, idk, funko pop? Mobile-gamey? I still enjoy it tho. My only issue is I’m not used to the input buffer being the way it is, and I don’t think it has a lot of the shortcuts that are in SF6/GGST, so I have to play it very “correct”. I’ve only been playing story mode and honestly it’s kind of kicking my ass. The UI is not my fave either but I’ve been noticing that I don’t know a single fighting game with UI I would consider good except for like, Footsies?

I can’t believe it’s already October 30th… where did this month go? Anyway hope y’all are doing good!!
