there was some guide i found a million years ago that worked flawlessly, it involves changing regkeys and policies i think? idk if i could find it again but. it's possible
im doing that rn i have to search and replace every regkey that refers to the original name 😵 i thought this would be the lazy option not the difficult one
oh tati no.................. i did that once and it made me have 0 admins on my own PC
i had to use a windows install USB to hack into my own computer and promote myself to an admin user to fix it lol
i still have a deadname'd user on my PC because i'm too scared to delete them lmao
honestly just due to poor coding i wouldnt trust any previously run program to not store a copy of my username somewhere in a file path, sadly
We used to have to do this on imaged machines and it was absurdly cursed even on NT4. I tried doing it once on Win 7 and it was one of the this that made me stop wanting to use Windows ever
Unimaginable pain oh god. Yeah if you make a new user with admin permissions, you can gain access to your main user’s folders and just copy shit over, including your browser’s profile folder (I think) unless you have some Specific Ass windows settings you’re definitely better off making a new user
