tomorrow i have my first appointment with my new voice trainer. im really hoping it ends up being what im looking for this time. but also dreading how much work it's probably going to be
so i had the session. it went alright. but the instructor told me that she doesn't normally do voice feminization training (she usually does something else) and is only doing it to help whittle down the long waitlist. this bothers me a lot because
- i was not informed of this ahead of time and
- im paying full price.
so now im worried that it's not going to be a good fit and that im not going to get the best quality instruction since she doesn't normally do this, and im paying full price as if i was working with one of their specialists, and they didn't bother telling me any of this before i agreed to sessions.
this just feels really bad.
i went on their discord to look her up more (she's not listed on the website) and it seems like she mostly does integrated voice (i don't know what this is) and... voice masculinization training. um. this doesn't seem like a great fit??
i heard back from them. their argument seemed to be that because she runs the integrated voice program (which apparently is what they do after you finish the main program?) that means she's good at voice feminization too. but that doesn't necessarily prove anything to me? like, if i wanted to learn computer science, going to someone who has a masters in math is not going to be better than going to someone who has a bachelors in computer science. they're similar but not the same thing.
and the only other option im being given is working with a man? i mean, maybe he's feminized his voice just for fun, i don't know. but i doubt it. so i don't know how helpful that would be. but i don't want to voice any more concern because im afraid if i do they'll just boot me out to the back of the wait list.
