We were considering moving into a place like that had "smart locks" and it was one of the major reasons we chose not to. Seems like it'd be fun and cool and convenient until the wifi goes down, or your phone battery dies, or you get in a dispute with the landlord and they can lock you out of your home on a whim rather than having to pay a locksmith who is required by law to follow proper eviction procedures.
What is the make and model of the smartlock being inflicted upon you
Chances are that it's probably a model that LockPickingLawyer has completely roasted so there's possibly a way to get in that's faster than using an app
