Watching the Gamecube LGR retrospective, and god
what a good console. It made me sad when he was like "No one I knew had a Gamecube, and no one really gave it a chance", because to me, that thing was the SHIT. We had a Gamecube and also an OG Xbox, and since growing up and experimenting with all the consoles of that generation, I really do think the GC is the best console. Like, ever made. What a great little thing.
Don't really like the Wii as much but hey at least it's backwards compatible.
the GameCube and Dreamcast are really similar to me in that they were drastic improvements over their predecessors, like saying "we are so, so sorry" in hardware form, and they both had so much potential that was never really fully explored. like don't get me wrong, the N64 and Saturn are cool in their own ways, but their respective architectures are complete clusterfucks and i feel really bad for anyone that had to develop for them back in the day. you could really tell when developers were struggling to get the hardware to do what they wanted, and i just don't feel that when i play a GC or DC game. wonderful little machines.
