in reply to @xkeeper's post:

whenever highlighting text brings up a New Website Specific Popup along i get irritated. i don't want to Share with your popup or Save this selection or shit like that, i want to highlight text so i can copy it like you do with text you highlight

every time a website tells me "this website needs javascript to function properly" i relish in knowing i am depriving them of Enshittificating My Experience. no modals, no subscribe alerts, no notifications, no "your device's identity will be verified", no hover shit. just plain hypertext as God intended

also as there has been discussion about reading styles and how people approach text, i am very familiar with the person who highlights text as they read it to help keep their place. really fun when features like this are perpetually blocking the next bit

yes, norton (publisher), thank you for telling me I can only copy x words, now please get out of my way so I can actually copy them. oh look it's not gonna work no matter what I do so I have to manually repeat the text for any quotes from reference material, thank you so very much, choke on a pretzel.

I just love college textbook publishers so much.

I am a compulsive text highlighter while reading. Not to keep my place or anything, more as like a fidgeting mechanism. Often times, I'm double clicking or even triple clicking and dragging just to occupy my fingers.

These fucking popups infuriate me, because I'll be fidgeting and suddenly a goddamn share button shows up while I'm mid-click.

the kicker is that these computers can't even access bing. the browser is for the intranet.

edit later: i tried to find a screenshot or like microsoft bit about the 'feature' and i could only find articles titled 'how to disable edge mini menu' (which is one of the options in the shitty little menu)
