I think shareholders and investors forget that they're job is to provide money and shut up. Why invest in a company where you think you can do a better job than the people who actually have the relevant experience and are specifically hired to run things?
The best part is that they're legally obligated to listen to these inbred trust fund babies, and if they don't, the Lacoste and Lambo set can sue them to make them do the stupid thing anyway! Isn't capitalism so efficient?
The thing is, they're pushing the profit button and getting profit, but not enough for them, so now they'll handrail it because clearly they know what they're doing, they're making money!!
