A mouse that can be used forever is one that just shows up as an HID device and gets out of the way. You want some creature comforts like adjustable DPI? Put a button on the mouse. I am begging peripheral manufacturers to just put a button on the device. Do not make me use a software suite. Zowie makes the only good mice you can buy new right now because there's just a button on them to change DPI.
Agreed, though also want to mention Vaxee and Xtrfy also have mice with DPI buttons.

I have never once replaced a mouse because it was "feature poor", I replace mice because they're physical objects that break. This is just an executive who needs a haircut real close to the shoulders spouting idiot nonsense
Need this tech journalist to ask, in as many words, what features they're talking about that any computer mouse needs enough regular software updates to perform. And how those features could justify a monthly subscription.
