By the way, digging around for behind-the-scenes photos of Star Wars, and I kinda love this photo of Bob Anderson, the sword-master and fight choreographer for Empire Strikes Back? Feels like getting a flash of the old knight Anakin would have been in a better world.
I’m sure Bob Anderson’s a great guy but wow he just looks so sad on the set where Vader confronts a son he thought was dead.
- Another wild fit for Luke, love the high-waist suspenders!
- I’m going to become weirdly obsessed with this, aren’t I. He’s just got the look, right?
- Did some reading, Bob Anderson was a gold-medal fencer who choreographed fights and trained swordplay in movies for over 50 years, including The Princess Bride, Barry Lyndon, The Highlander, The Mask of Zorro, the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie (remember how good that one duel is in it?) and The Lord of the Rings trilogy!
- He also apparently said, and I quote: “I never took up the sword, the sword took up me,” which is an insanely cool thing to say.
