So, when Stadia was actually A Thing, I was one of the few to actually, uh, use it. Namely for the exclusive Pac-Man game, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle. And it was surprisingly fun! You had an infinite grid of mazes (similar to World's Largest Pac-Man) that you could semi-freely hop between, either to evade ghosts or to troll someone else's game. Gameplay was really good, with the traditional AI adapted to a wide-screen maze layout. You had power-ups and power-downs occasionally appear to shake things up. Your game ended when you ran out of lives, but you could stick around and spectate other players, and even vote on what items would spawn. This was the main game mode; there was also an "Elimination Battle" mode that you could unlock after some time that was more like a Battle Royale, in which the goal was to be the last player standing out of a pool of players. Personally, I wasn't a fan of this mode, and preferred the standard gameplay mode.
Then Stadia got Google'd. Which was a shame, that meant Yet Another Killed Pac-Man Game.
Fast forward a bit, and... they're un-killing it? For all the platforms this time? GOOD! I actually enjoyed Mega Tunnel Battle so being able to play it again - on my Switch no less! - is an excellent thing indeed.
And then it came out and I picked it up. They uh... they got rid of the main game mode? What? There's ONLY the Elimination Mode?! That was the worst part of the game! Why would you do this?! And Pac-Man is forced to play these weird emote animations when certain actions happen, which was never the case in the original, and I can't even disable them because I explicitly set all of them to play nothing and yet it still plays a stupid animation! And the cosmetics are wonky for some reason, clipping into the model unlike in the Stadia version.
I'm so disappointed. Avoid this mess.
