There’s something cheesy and charming about 2000s-era 3D desktop environments like 3DNA, BumpTop, and Compiz. They weren’t particularly useful as an evolution on the standard desktop, but by god they’re fun and flashy, and they represent how people will always keep experimenting new ways to make fetch (Read: Fully-spatial computer interfaces) happen. And I think that’s just cute. :P
"I woke up feeling like I was smashed between a giant rolling pin and a slab of concrete. Peeled like an orange, just laying there on the cold hard ground. In that moment, I felt the unspeakable agony of wanting to scream and shout for anyone to help me, yet knowing that none of it will get past my permanently smug expression. Damn that wizard. If I ever find him again I'm gonna make sure he's the one that gets unwrapped."

A (hopefully) ongoing thread of my favorite CD-ROM icons. This one is from the classic Mac OS operating system.
