i gave in and joined tiktok, but i fear i joined too late

i keep getting exposed to brit-tok, conspiracy theorists, new world order types, and endless true crime internet detectives

"the algorithm is good, this time" no it's actually pretty terrible from the outset. how do i get it to show me cute frogs

edit: people are suggesting I train the algorithm which sounds like a whole lot of work to make a computer stop showing me carbon monoxide, and doesn't change the fact that they're spewing out more bile than youtube

As far as I can tell you gotta train tiktok with positive reinforcement. Search out things you like, give em a heart, follow, comment. Skip the stuff you don’t like because if you accidentally interact with it, you’ll definitely see more of it.

There is a “not interested in this video” option in the long-press menu, but it’s questionable how effective it is these days. Last resort is to block an account you don’t like, which will hide their videos from your FYP.

tiktok is one of those algos where you have to train it to be good and then it is pretty good. if youre new or have not used it for 6 months it is dogshit lol

I think while it does to some extent get better with training, their for you feed today is also probably much less tuned for "user experience" compared to 2 years ago when user acquisition mattered much more.
