... and i admit, i adhd'd myself out of the thrilling climax where the day is saved.
i've ranted elsewhere, but let me give the cliff notes
- star trek used to be more hopeful about the future, and this reboot is just gritty prestige tv by the numbers
- the show can't decide if it's episodic or arc based, and as a result, the episodes go nowhere, and the arc comes out of nowhere
- many familiar faces are brought in to "say the line, bart", or worse, act in an entirely different manner to how they've been established
- the whole thing hypes up to game master anthony's birthday, everyone piles in for a big namechecking finale, solving the crisis through the power of love
i wrote elsewhere "this is like steven moffat rebooted startrek", but someone else replied "are you sure it's not ChatGPT" and god damn, i am not sure whatsoever. it has the same regurgitated markov chain taste, down to not quite getting the rules right
