I don't have any strong opinions about haiku as a form except that you can't just call anything with 17 syllables a haiku. that's not how it works. stop it

When I learned that haiku are not just about the structure but about the theme and subject as well, I was initially confused bc in school I'd just been taught about poetry as syllable counts and rhyming schemes and so forth.
And then I realized, okay, I know the structure of a limerick, but I also know it's not really a limerick if it isn't dirty, and it clicked.
