a near indecipherable post to those new to the subject, but something you'll get linked to when a coworker tries to win an argument

a methodical and impassioned rant for people to not do the easy, quick, and cheap thing with high maintenance overhead, that inevitably becomes fossilised within the codebase
"some good advice"
things you could do if you had any control over the code you write at work. lots of nice things that you'll never get to enjoy
"flossing works"
if you would adopt a very cheap and easy (but minimally inconvenient at first) habit, you would avoid all these problems you know you have already. nobody listens but they'll publicly say they do when talking to experts to not lose face
also one of my favourites I think you pointed out on an older site: "how to be more like me", advice for the junior programmer.
it's a shame we never get the "actually it was very embarassing and almost trivial to fix once we realised what was up"
