  • they/them

as of this week, i now have a kitten.

this was one of those decisions that took months and happened in a few days. kat's cats, espresso and spooky, are rather old, and well, it would be easier to introduce a new cat to the household now, rather than later.

anyway, his name is q-tip. i would die for him

i've never owned a pet, although i've lived with other people's cats several times over. they've always been pretty old by the time i met them, though. this is the first time that i've ever had a pet, and also one that's a kitten, too

it's also the first time i've named an animal. i suggested q-tip because honestly he's like 90% fluff and it felt like a nice word to say.

again, he is absolutely perfect, and it's been remarkably peaceful introducing him to the other cats

Ya, we have an elderly cat whose brother died, so he was all on his own. So we got two kittens (a brother and sister) to keep him company. We figured that if we got two new idiots, they could bounce and play with each other when the old man was feeling grumpy and slow. And it's worked out perfectly - he's super lively with them when he wants to be (which is usually 5am, but... oh well) but can snooze when he's feeling his age.
