13 years after announcing his new series, Ken Penders has released the first installment of his Archie Sonic followup, The Lara-Su Chronicles.
In my long-awaited, in-depth review, I answer all your burning questions about how bad it is, how this thing can even exist from a legal standpoint, and what's up with the breastfeeding.
(And, yes, I do also get into Ken's recent announcement that he wants to reprint ALL OF ARCHIE SONIC, the feasibility of which is... complicated.)
Regarding Ken's reprint claims: he IS in fact claiming reprint rights to Ian's run on the basis that he thinks post-SGW Eggman is still the same character as "his" Robo-Robotnik, smugly declaring that "Ian was sloppy with how he handled that situation"

Having very little knowledge of Archie comics Sonic, and even less of Ken Penders, this was interesting, entertaining and baffling read.
god bless those breastfeeding scenes. they are so sublimely unsettling. perhaps the only thing this comic has to offer and yet even most intentionally weird or horrific art fails to hit this level for me.

Ken Penders is like the inverse of Henry Darger, who made 15000 images over his lifetime telling a massive story and told NO ONE, while Penders spent the last decade and a half to produce 30 pages of recap and told EVERYBODY.

i looked at this and thought "yikes, but i guess he's like just a writer who's trying to learn to draw, to do it all by himself" 😬

as a kid i only ever read the very first issues of the sonic comic, the funny lil adventures with a cute and pleasant style. with the cute cyborg-bunny and all that. so my knowledge of this penders stuff is just whatever i happen to read people saying online.

Huh, his artwork has somehow got worse, more grotesque rather than amateur fanartist mostly inspired by anime who needs to work on their skills as defined a lot of his work and people like for some reason.
