morrowind quest 'path of the incarnate' focuses on a riddle that you ask ashlanders with help decoding to figure out its directions based on the landscape. one part is "the skin of the pearl" which they say is a lightened discolored rock at the top of "the needle", a large rock column.

a different clue helps you find the entrance to the valley/road that leads straight to the place without needing to reference anything else. which is great because there is no needle and there is no pearl. there are lots of little rock columns, but no notable ones, and no discolored rock at the top of any of them. ¯_(ツ)_/¯?
