PonyDOS is a text pseudo-graphics based operating system for everypony. PonyDOS includes a bespoke 512 byte kernel, event-loop based multitasking, and – most important of all – a pony wallpaper out of the box

you might have more luck with the normal PonyOS for that. you can boot it up and install gcc/binutils
