it took me a full week from realizing the SD to IDE adapter in my windows 98 machine crapped out, to remembering that i should probably buy a replacement CF to IDE adapter for it so i'm not relying on an IDE drive of unknown age/integrity

okay so

i got the CF card and the adapter, and. i'm realizing that it's possible that the SD to IDE adapter didn't crap out, and the data just got corrupted somehow

because the completely blank CF card and CF to IDE adapter gave me an identical error that the SD to IDE adapter did, and I then proceeded to fix the CF card... by reformatting the drive in windows 98.

I haven't tried reformatting the SD to IDE drive in windows 98, but if it works..... :V
