In the year 2571, a USB drive was found in a pile of rubble on the ruins of a certain blue planet. What you are about to witness are not the contents of the drive. This is an entirely different recording.

here, you want my weird future prediction? I think we are on the edge of the next generation of animal domestication. Im not talking anything insane like lions or zebras or whatever. But I think many "urban" animals- I think raccoons are the most likely but also opossums, foxes, or coyotes, they're all candidates. I don't think they'll be as common as dogs or cats but I think they'll quietly join the ranks of "alternative" pets like hedgehogs, starlings, pigeons and doves, or uncommon farm animals like peacocks or emus or something.

I don't know if this is an unambiguous "good thing", at some point domestication inevitably involves plucking animals from the wild, and animal breeding is a whole quagmire that is corrupted by capital incredibly easily and gets disgustingly awful fast. But I just kinda have a feeling.

i hate it so much, thing

knowing that we domesticated pigeons and doves over millenia and now cast them aside and treat them like vermin for the very human-proximal behaviors we bred into em

Yea. Especially when the "replacement" as pet bird was parrots, which are so often poached from the wild and don't breed nearly as easily in captivity. (And when they do those parrots are considered "not special enough")
