In the year 2571, a USB drive was found in a pile of rubble on the ruins of a certain blue planet. What you are about to witness are not the contents of the drive. This is an entirely different recording.

sometimes I'm possessed with an urge to throw out my pixel and just get one of my old previous phones for super cheap. would using an LG G5 in 2024 be an enjoyable, smooth, or virus-safe experience? no. But I hate that Google bullshit means my new phone somehow feels less smooth than my old S9+.

I also kinda hate how a case makes my phone feel like a cheap waterproof camera, but since everything has glass backs now I need a case bc I'm a clutz and will shatter glass backs in a month. That's less easily fixed though

Yeah. Honestly I kinda miss plastic screens? Phones are too thin and too fragile now, make it thicker. Give it a fatter battery that will fly out if you drop it and can be pulled if the phone is being a shit and locked up. The first phone I had with a non removable battery was also the only one that had it's screen shatter and now I believe in my soul that the battery popping out dispels force so that doesn't happen.

OLEDs too are such a monkeys paw of tech. Nicer, crisper, etc. but more finicky and often prohibitively expensive to replace, not to mention burn in.

I had a Pixel 4a for a few months, literally the first time I dropped it, the screen cracked, and a short time later the OLED began to die because air got in-between the layers. By the end of the day the screen was fully black and unusable. A new screen was like half the price of the device, so I ended up throwing it in a drawer.

My little brother also inherited my dad's old S8 Active, and the OLED on that is crapping out too; the entire thing has gone a pinkish tint and the TikTok UI is permanently etched into it. Are earlier OLEDs like that gonna be unobtainium for collectors or archivists because the screens slowly destroy themselves?
