The poet they probably shouldn’t have sent. I watch anime and am sometimes accused of reading books. I'm writing a long gay giant robot story in verse—probably this millennium's best yuri mecha epic poem, through lack of competition.

The show pulled cheerfully from a wide range of past things in ways that sparked good fan conversations.

For example, I saw the general Gundam subreddit chatting about the strengths of Utena and Princess Tutu, and how much some posters had enjoyed Sailor Moon.

We have so many more distribution channels, and so many more anime today than we used to. Anime can feel like a lot of small silos.

Was good seeing something counteract that.

And this effect will remain good even if the show crashes & burns in its second cours.
