The poet they probably shouldn’t have sent. I watch anime and am sometimes accused of reading books. I'm writing a long gay giant robot story in verse—probably this millennium's best yuri mecha epic poem, through lack of competition.

'Now praise those names on tombs of steel engraved | And toll this rotting country’s countless bells.'

  • A pub called The Whited Sepulchre, from the KJV translation of Matthew 23:27.
  • The Crystal Palace dinosaurs, specifically the Iguanadon sculpture.
  • The First Folio of Shakespeare (open at King Lear IV.6, though with recto and verso swapped).
  • Numerous late-Victorian adverts reproduced.
  • Black pudding.
  • Bovril (since this remains trademarked, they call it, erm, Bogvil).

This is all to say that the protest sign in The Witch from Mercury which alludes to 'render unto Caesar'—it's closest to the version in Mark 12:17—probably didn't get there by accident.
