i can state pretty confidently that there'll never been any numbers on this website, the developers have a pretty strong conviction against numbers.

i believe @jkap has posted about their lack of a mobile app and explained that it's fairly unlikely to happen any time soon, both for lack of development resources reasons and because their commitment to allowing NSFW content conflicts with certain fruit companies app store policies. but they also said that once they have a stable public API they'll allow third-party clients so hopefully people will pick up the slack and make a decent one.

While I can see that for some numbers are really good, for me they're just awful. Regularly reminded of how few people actually read what I type in any given day.

If they were added but not as the default, it could work for us both, though!

I saw a post from one of the people who works here saying they intentionally want the numbers hidden, and to hide followers so you can't shame people for who the follow. If you put that URL on a new line it will embed

Numbers feel nice when they go up. Other social networks prey on that feeling. It's probably for the best in the long term that co-host keeps it hidden so people don't hyperfocus on them.

As a temporary workaround to having an app, most browsers on phones let you create a shortcut to a website on your home screen using an "Add to Home screen" option, then display it like it's kind of an app when you click on it. The mobile view of cohost isn't the greatest right now, but it's a good temporary solution until there's an app available.

Totally agree about the app part, I use Birdsite via app more than any other reason I'd have to pull out the mobile device. Hope more of the folks I follow will make it over here eventually...
