I was out and about downtown at 7 AM today, and I was the only one out there! It was like the damn rapture out there! And the only place open was the sketchy gas station convenience store. How do people eat out for breakfast??
The sketchy gas station convenience store in question has such a curious air of apathy and malaise about it. The other one downtown has such a different aura - more of a quiet mania befitting for its constant flow of drug addicts. I entered for something cold. I don't drink my water cold, and I don't stock up on cold drinks i my fridge lest I immediately drink them all. I ended up getting a soda. The gas station pizza looked surprisingly good, though, but not even I would ever dare take that leap of faith.
This all was brought on by me waking up at 4 am, earlier than the usual 5 am, mysteriously energized. Usually I must sit in bed for hours rotting because I do not wish to Wake The Neighbors. Today I allowed myself a taste of Freedom. Fool that I was. Fool that I was!!
There HAS to be some coffee shop or SOMETHING that opens before 8. My next quest will be to find such a mythical place...
