i watched this one fuckin' We're In Hell video, and I'm once more reminded of the distinction between tourists and the true denizens of the internet. it ends on the note of finding community in the real world, and a dark forest theory of internet a la Three Body Problem for those of us that try to stick it out and I can't help but feel how profoundly sad of a notion that is for the existence of this magical place.
this isn't a carte blanche condemnation of the video, it's got some fun narrative it institutes about internet history, but the idea that scrappy underground resistance is the best those of us who are truly for and from cyberspace is supposed to be the light at the end of the tunnel in someway strikes me as the kind of idea that comes from, for lack of a better term, a normie.
