Seen on a hike in my area, likely genus Sarcoscypha, species is hard to define and I didn’t spend too long there as the sun was setting.
An ichneumonid wasp in the Megarhyssa genus, probably M. nortoni quebecensis. This one is hunting for a horntail larva to lay an egg on. Some baby wasps must eat baby wasps. Such is life. 6/10/23
