Ive only seen like 15 episodes of the X Files but whatever. I know more than enough about it. I was riffing with @Xeecee and we came up with an ironclad premise for a new show:
It would be set in the 1960's. The main appeal would be reversing the Mulder/Scully dynamic so the government guy is the skeptic, and the weirdo Believer is the lady. The guy would be Dake's actor from Billions, and he'd be like an uptight little robot. idk who the lady would be, but she'd be a sarcastic chainsmoking beatnik who knows where all the paranormal stuff is
the music would be a Henry Mancini-fication of the X Files theme, and the intro would be like paranormal shit overlaid in Saul Bass graphics.
And you'd get some good alien and bigfoot shit, but the rest of the adventures would be like twilight zone type stuff. some phillip k dick-core episodes and so on
the problem with the x-files is that in the 90s, a dude like Mulder was a lone weirdo who spoke to other lone weirdoes with zines while in the 2020s, Mulder is a chuddy infowarrior type
Therefore the only place to go with this that doesn't make the characters suck ass is further back into the pass. I approve this idea.
There's also the possibility that Mulder is one of those guys in Tumblr who knows at 3 people (even if he doesn't know this about them) who decorate their houses by robbing graves, and a community of at least 10 people interested in cryptids for weird, horny reasons
