I've been seeing this and this going around all day and sort of positioned against each other. I don't think they're largely in conflict unless your idea of presenting a common front in the face of a common enemy - which is very different than some nebulous idea of "unity" - is purely one-sided. That is to say, we are not tacking toward the center to capture some mythical swing voter because that's stupid and suicidal, we have a century plus of evidence. If you're not ready to take up the fight in every realm, don't attack people who are. Revolutionaries can stand next to people who aren't there yet, if the reverse is also true.
