I do believe tech bros neglect to understand that there are actual things signified by words much of the time.
"Don't we all do that?" No that sounds like a you problem. The rest of us actually think about things and don't just have all of our thoughts and everything we say spoonfed to us by idiot capitalists and podcasters.
I think there is something to be said about the idea that the thoughts in our head are expressed the way they are because we have cultural scripts that make some ways of expressing them more common than others but the AI guys would argue that that's not even a bit different from rolling a bunch of d20s and consulting the magic menu to say "the lightbulb was invented in 1928 by thomas alva eolar when he ran electricity though a wire"
