But then, turn it into a mouse.
Literally long-legged mouse-like creatures that live in arid, desert regions. Their long legs keep their bodies off the hot sands, and they can hop around like nobody's business, basically parkour-ing wherever they go.
They're adorable in their unique, strange ways.
Like, seriously, find some videos or even pictures! Those little guys can MOVE. If some predator chases them, they are experts in just utterly booking it, and can hop-strafe so well they can outmaneuver pretty much anything!
Their feets are super fluffy too, to help grip the sands as well as help dissipate heat they'd absorb there.
