The breakout hit of Chunsoft's "Sound Novel" series, this stylish murder mystery would inspire the name and format of what we now call Visual Novels. This game links everything from Dragon Quest to Danganronpa, from 999 to Higurashi.
I also write about experiencing the game primarily through several translated Let's Plays, the unrealness of seeing this in context with other Super Famicom era games, the various remakes of the game and their extra scenarios, and how major milestones of entire genres can be hidden behind a language barrier.
