Despite my recently-acquired blu-ray enclosure using a usb y-cable to power itself, it still seems to be failing to stay connected to my PC. I have no idea if this is a flaw in the cable, or if it's something else to do with the drive or enclosure somehow.
It was only $20 so I'm not terribly bothered but I take this as evidence that I should have just gotten a 5.25" drive and used that with this computer instead. An internal enclosure for the slim drive would have worked better but cost 2-3 times as much, at which point I may as well just get a nicer drive.
