My wife loves the site for reasons I mostly don't understand but as a guy in that all-too-important 30-40 age demographic any time I use the site I get to think about how its first impression, how it wanted to sell itself to me, was with videos of girls likely below the age of majority dancing around in bikinis. I only have an account there for the sake of my wife.

tiktok is indeed a hellish attention zoo and i refuse to have anything to do with it, even though there are people posting cool stuff on it here and there.
like yeah youtube is the same business model really, just shoveling "content" at you and the platform taking zero responsibility for the ideological payload being delivered. but tiktok to me looks like the donut force feeding machine in hell that Homer is strapped into in that one treehouse of horror episode: a neverending stream of shit you didn't ask for that is constantly tuning for maximum vitality.
