system requirements misleading, these song files are not compatible with my adlib card. sb pro probably the true minimum requirement from my testbench results

How much RAM do you have? One possibility would be to

  1. load the entire file into past-1MiB memory (loading with DOS syscalls into low memory, then using XMS to copy it over)
  2. enter protected mode to be able to access the entire file directly
  3. decode in-memory
  4. disable interrupts and bitbang out the decoded PCM

EDIT: or, depending on the sample rate and how much overhead DPMI imposes for serving interrupts, we might be able to get away without disabling interrupts
