I think Geoff Keighley is the Spokeperson for gaming if you're the kind of person that thinks gaming needs one. Folks who dont just see gaming as a hobby, but as a multibillion dollar industry that has to be that big so the teachers in elementary school that were saying "video games are a waste of time" can eat crow. talking up the HYPE new releases while brushing mass layoffs and the gaza protests of its future class under the rug.
I honestly dont know what a "better" spokesperson would look like. If he had more of an activist streak then the industry would throw him away. If he was more of a shill he'd be less palatable to consumers.
Also i had to double check cuz i was like "im sure SI means something other thans Sports Illustrated"
I suppose I shouldn't have expected sports illustrated to get into his deliberate and condescending silence on Palestine despite the exhortations of actual industry workers, but that was the point for me where he moved from 'kind of annoying and commercialist' to 'a coward and a stooge of management.' if he is a spokesperson of gaming, then he represents specifically the sanitized and chickenshit parts of it that need to be outgrown.
