I feel a bit silly not having started reading Otherside Picnic before now, especially because my understanding of it was that it was more 'zombies and guns, with girls' which I kinda hate as a premise and not 'the hifuu club take on cognitohazards' which is far more my jam

I knew the author'd written hifuu stuff before, but still was a bit "huh it sure is maribel's powers split between the two of them" when I started watching the anime
Honestly when I wrote the post I was saying that half-seriously, I didn't consider that this could have been an explicit inspiration. Which is funny in retrospect -- as is the fact that especially after that tome I just wrote that this is the first time I've even tried to read it
