a few years ago i was watching a streamer play some super mario world rom hacks. they all had very plain music and i was wondering if it was possible to make something that sounds exciting with the SMW sound font. naturally i chose to remix beginning from castlevania 3. i always liked the effects and techniques that konami composers used to squeeze as much out of the NES as possible
shout out to hackers and dataminers. silly remixes like this and "the entire weezer blue album in the DKC soundfont" wouldn't be possible without their work. i think its cool and fun to have access to samples and other assets from old games. tbh a world where that is not possible is a little bit worse
