man. very depressing how active literal gamergate-type elements still are. I know they never went away but this level of organization.. whoof. I'm glad it's being discussed openly because this sort of thing needs active fighting back against.
Yeah... this came up on one of my servers a few days ago; looking at the list of projects the company says they've been involved with, people thinking that those games suck is kind of understandable? but they're zoomed way too far in, and the games definitely don't suck for the reasons they think they do.
like, i have yet to see anybody truly defend 2022's Saints Row reboot, but having played the thing myself for like 2 hours, the diversity and equity is absolutely not why it's less good than the older ones.
I saw a link to a youtube video the other day titled something like "creative censorship and why sweet baby inc should die". I actually clicked through for like 2 seconds to find some guy ranting incoherently, go figure. I am astounded at how effective it can be to try to weaponize ignorance; you'd think there was an obvious upper limit beyond which returns are massively diminished, because there's so much information out there. And yet.
