The guys who go "pc building is easy it's just Legos for adults" always conveniently leave out the part where Legos don't completely fry themselves if you fuck up. Also the most expensive lego set is on par with a low/mid-tier gaming PC.

the disproportionate consequences and high cost-of-entry is the part that makes it "for adults"
i put my new desktop together last year, first time building a machine from scratch even though i've swapped parts in and out of previous machines
i cannot remember any LEGO build giving me as much of a near-heart attack as the process of installing the CPU
that spring lever gives a lot more resistance than i was expecting
I just finished putting the side panels on my first build, like you I did some pretty extensive upgrades before but never a build from scratch. Getting those cables all in I felt like I was going to snap the motherboard in half.
I've been terrified as hell that I've ruined parts before, sweating directly on to the main board, dropping screws left and right... and somehow all my builds have still come out working just fine.
Certainly doesn't lessen the terror any, though.
I just put the side panels on and I've got windows installing and I feel like i just escaped death.
