I get the idea but this is a bold stance to attach to the guy who made Braid, just saying
look i'm willing to accept a lot of ideas if their ultimate directive is "punch Jonathan Blow in the face"
Yeah I should be clear that despite quibbling on the specifics I do agree with the core emotional truth contained inside the chost
I'm talking about The Witness because literally several endings are a slap in the player's place for having committed the crime of *checks notes* played a game for fun
The piss ending of the witness makes sense to me only if you see it as Jon Blow having a fleeting moment of self-awareness and writing a video message to himself about it, because there are definitely a lot of points where you look at the way that the puzzles relate to nature and think "this is the sort of guy who sees structure and coincidence in random natural processes doesn't he".
Anyway I know he's gotten on the "covid was engineered in a lab" train which basically makes my point about why I see that way of thinking as harmful
