I think Rick Beato is one of those guys who you have to be kinda careful about the level of exposure you apply to yourself. I say this as a self-proclaimed mega-crank, that dude is like king of the cranks right there. You can watch a couple videos and expose yourself to the LD50 of crankiness without even realizing it.
But this video about stuff being in/out of tune. Like you should go ahead and watch it but, like, my first reaction on hearing him pick up the guitar was "oh wow that is some extremely sharp tuning he's got on that guitar there" and then he played the note on the piano, and, yep, in tune with itself sure but also massively sharp compared to where the piano is, probably the better part of a quarter-tone.
And, like, this dude is a professional musician who's been working in the business for decades and has tons of personal connections that he's developed in the process and here he is talking with his own family and they all seem to have a different concept of the basic idea of being in tune from him, and, I guess, based on how I reacted, myself.
And if this guy who is a professional musician and communicator can't bridge that gap with his own family members what fucking hope do the rest of us have with a more general audience???
