Around when Everything Everywhere All At Once came out I saw a lot of a particular half-joking critique that the film was, in essence, "the millennial fantasy of your parents apologizing to you," and it's not like that's not in the film but ultimately I think the fantasy animating the story is its inverse--the parent's fantasy that your child will tell you what's wrong.
